A Statement by MoGaza
Damaging Waste Water Facilities
Calling on swift intervention to prevent the spread of hazards and diseases.
The Municipality of Gaza (MoGaza) announced that the occupation forces destroyed waste water facilities, led towards a serious disaster.
The Israeli occupation has destroyed sewage facilities since the beginning of the aggression and genocide against civilians in the Gaza Strip, causing a significant health and environmental disaster in the city due to sewage leakage onto streets, the beach, and storm water collection ponds.
MoGaza emergency-response team has reported that the occupation has completely or partially destroyed 9 waste water stations existing in the city, top of which is station 7B in AlZaitoun neighborhood, and sewage stations number 1, 2, 3, and 11 in western areas of the city,.
MoGaza has added that about 30,000 meters of sewage networks, 5,000 meters of storm water drainage networks, thousands of manholes and drainage channels for rainwater have been damaged.
Moreover, the destruction led to significant damages to the Sheikh Radwan storm water pond, where the occupation destroyed the pond's walls, generators, electricity transformers, and drainage pipelines.
The destruction of waste water facilities, fuel shortages and electricity cut off led to the leakage of large quantities of waste water water onto the beach, streets, and storm water collection ponds, causing significant environmental and health disasters in the city.
Thus, MoGaza has warned against the continuation of the current situation and the delay in reconstructing the damaged facilities and providing fuel and electricity, in order to stop the leakage of sewage onto streets and prevent the spread of diseases and pandemics.
