Gaza Mayor Participates in Meeting with the Union of Turkish Municipalities

The Mayor of Gaza, Dr. Yahya Al-Sarraj, participated in a meeting held via video conference with the Union of Turkish Municipalities at the headquarters of Al-Quds Open University, in the presence of a number of mayors from municipalities across the Gaza Strip, representatives of the Ministries of Health, Education, and Tribal Affairs, and Hamada Shaat, Director of the Deniz Feneri Foundation – Gaza Office.

Representing the Turkish side were Istanbul Mayor Davudoglu, President of the Union of Turkish Municipalities Ibrahim Alqay, the Foundation’s Director General Mohammad Cengiz, in addition to several Turkish mayors and the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Turkey, Nasri Abu Jaish.

Participants discussed issues concerning Gaza Strip municipalities, ways to strengthen cooperation, the most pressing municipal needs, and the challenges facing local governments in the Gaza Strip amid the ongoing war of genocide and the widespread destruction inflicted upon the sector.

The participants stressed the importance of strengthening support for the health and education sectors and providing direct assistance to Gaza Strip municipalities, in a way that contributes to improving municipal services and alleviating the suffering of citizens and displaced persons.
