وقّع رئيس بلدية غزة، د. يحيى السراج، ود. عبد الرحمن الحلو، ممثّل مؤسسة Gift of the Givers، مذكرةَ تفاهمٍ لتنفيذ مبادرةٍ لفتح الشوارع المغلقة من الركام، وذلك ضمن جهود البلدية للتعاون مع مختلف المؤسسات المحلية والدولية لفتح الشوارع، وتوفير الخدمات الإنسانية، وتسهيل حركة آليات الإسعاف والطوارئ، وعودة المواطنين إلى مناطقهم.
وتنصّ المذكرة على تنفيذ مبادرةٍ لفتح الشوارع المغلقة وإزالة الركام، وتوفير الإشراف الهندسي والمتابعة لأعمال فتح الشوارع وإزالة الأنقاض منها، وفقاً للإمكانيات المتاحة.
وأكّد رئيس بلدية غزة، د. يحيى السراج، أن توقيع هذه المذكرة يأتي في إطار تعزيز التعاون مع مختلف المؤسسات المحلية والدولية العاملة في المجالين الإنساني والخدماتي، مثمّناً دور مؤسسة Gift of the Givers في تعاونها مع البلدية وتقديم الدعم اللازم لتنفيذ المبادرة. ودعا السراج مختلف المؤسسات إلى التعاون مع البلدية لإعادة فتح الشوارع، وإحياء الحركة الإنسانية في المدينة، ومساندة البلدية في توفير الآليات والمعدات اللازمة.
ومنذ وقف إطلاق النار، شرعت بلدية غزة، بالتعاون مع عددٍ من الجهات الداعمة، في تنفيذ أعمال فتح الشوارع في مختلف مناطق المدينة التي يمكن الوصول إليها حالياً، مستندةً إلى روح التعاون الإنساني والتضامن الشعبي من الشعوب الصديقة، وذلك ضمن خطةٍ شاملة تهدف إلى إعادة تأهيل الطرق وفتحها وفقاً للإمكانيات المتاحة.
يُذكر أن غالبية شوارع المدينة تعرّضت لتدميرٍ واسع، وتحتاج إلى إمكانياتٍ كبيرة وآلياتٍ ثقيلة غير متوفّرة حالياً في غزة. وتُناشد بلدية غزة المجتمع الدولي سرعةَ التدخّل والمساعدة في توفير الاحتياجات الطارئة والعاجلة اللازمة للبلدية لتمكينها من فتح الشوارع وإعادة الحركة إلى المدينة.

Gaza Municipality Signs a Memorandum of Understanding to Launch an Initiative for Opening Blocked Streets

The Mayor of Gaza, Dr. Yahya Sarraj, and Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Helou, representing Gift of the Givers, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to implement an initiative aimed at opening streets blocked by rubble. The agreement is part of the Municipality’s ongoing efforts to cooperate with various local and international organizations to reopen streets, restore essential humanitarian services, and facilitate the movement of emergency and ambulance vehicles, as well as the return of residents to their neighborhoods.
The memorandum outlines the implementation of a joint initiative to clear and reopen blocked streets, including engineering supervision and monitoring of rubble removal operations, in accordance with the available resources.
Dr. Al-Sarraj emphasized that the signing of this memorandum reflects the Municipality’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with local and international institutions working in the humanitarian and public service sectors. He praised Gift of the Givers for its partnership and support in carrying out this initiative, and called on all organizations to join efforts with the Municipality to reopen streets, revive daily life in the city, and assist in providing the necessary equipment and machinery.
Since the ceasefire, Gaza Municipality — in collaboration with several supporting entities — has begun opening streets in accessible parts of the city, inspired by the spirit of humanitarian cooperation and popular solidarity from friendly nations. These efforts form part of a comprehensive plan to rehabilitate and reopen roads across all areas, according to the resources currently available.
It is worth noting that most of Gaza City’s streets have suffered extensive destruction and require significant resources and heavy machinery that are not currently available in the Strip. The Municipality calls on the international community to act swiftly to provide urgent and essential support, enabling it to reopen streets and restore movement throughout the city.
