As part of its plan to reduce sewage overflows, Gaza Municipality crews began this morning maintenance work on the main sewage line serving the northern area of Al-Wehda Street and the vicinity of Al-Daraj Health Martyrs Center. The works aim to address sewage overflow problems in the area and remove blockages within pipelines near Al-Samer Station, which have been affected due to the station’s shutdown since the beginning of the war of genocide.
The municipality has also initiated the implementation of a broader plan to reduce sewage overflows and limit the flow of wastewater into the rainwater collection basin in Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, in an effort to mitigate the worsening health and environmental crisis in the city.
The plan includes the rehabilitation and cleaning of transmission lines from pumping stations located in the city center and leading to the treatment plant in Sheikh Ajleen area, in preparation for redirecting wastewater to the treatment facility and resolving the issue of its discharge into Sheikh Radwan basin.
