تناشد بلدية غزة المجتمع الدولي والمنظمات الدولية بضرورة توفير الاحتياجات الطارئة العاجلة للحد من الكارثة الصحية والبيئية الناجمة عن استمرار تراكم النفايات في شوارع وأحياء المدينة، وتقليل خطر انتشار الأمراض والأوبئة والحشرات والقوارض الضارة.
وأوضحت البلدية أن كميات النفايات تتزايد في شهر رمضان نتيجة ارتفاع معدلات الاستهلاك، في وقت تعاني فيه البلدية من عدم قدرتها على الجمع الليلي للنفايات بسبب الأوضاع السائدة في المدينة وعدم توفر الإمكانيات المادية الكافية.
وأكدت البلدية أن أهم الاحتياجات تتمثل في الآليات والوقود والمشاريع التشغيلية اللازمة للحد من الكارثة، إضافة إلى أهمية تمكين طواقم البلدية من الوصول إلى المكب الرئيس في منطقة جحر الديك شرق المدينة، ونقل النفايات المتكدسة في قلب المدينة إليه.

Gaza Municipality appeals to the international community and international organizations to urgently provide the necessary emergency resources to mitigate the health and environmental disaster caused by the continued accumulation of solid waste in the city’s streets and neighborhoods, and to reduce the risk of the spread of diseases, epidemics, harmful insects, and rodents.
The municipality clarified that the quantities of solid waste increase during the month of Ramadan due to higher consumption rates, at a time when it faces an inability to conduct nighttime waste collection because of the prevailing conditions in the city and the lack of sufficient financial resources.
The municipality emphasized that the most critical needs include machinery, fuel, and operational projects required to contain the disaster, in addition to enabling municipal crews to access the main landfill in the Juhor al-Dik area east of the city and transport the accumulated solid waste from the city center to it.
