أطلقت بلدية غزة بالتعاون مع مؤسسة "هدائي" التركية حملة رمزية لمكافحة البعوض والحشرات الضارة في محاولة للتخفيف من الكارثة الصحية والبيئية التي تعيشها المدينة جراء الدمار غير المسبوق وتكدس كميات هائلة من النفايات في مختلف المناطق، إضافة إلى تدفق مياه الصرف الصحي إلى الشوارع وبرك تجميع مياه الأمطار.
جاء ذلك خلال مؤتمر صحفي عُقد في بركة الشيخ رضوان بمشاركة رئيس بلدية غزة د. يحيى السراج ونائب رئيس البلدية تامر الريس وعضو المجلس البلدي د. علي الهبيل ومدير عام الصحة والبيئة م. محمد حمادة وعدد من مدراء الدوائر في البلدية وممثل مؤسسة "هدائي" عبد الله سكر إلى جانب لفيف من المخاتير والوجهاء ولجنتي حي الشيخ رضوان وحي المنارة وطاقم المؤسسة.
وأكّد رئيس البلدية أن الحملة ذات طابع رمزي وتهدف إلى الحد من انتشار البعوض والحشرات الضارة، مشيراً إلى أنها ستستمر لمدة أسبوع وسيتم خلالها رش نحو 300 لتر من المبيدات. وأوضح أن الاحتياجات الفعلية أكبر بكثير وأن حجم الكارثة التي تعيشها المدينة يتطلب تدخلاً عاجلاً لتوفير الإمكانات والاحتياجات اللازمة للحد من تفاقم الأوضاع الصحية والبيئية.
وطالب رئيس البلدية المجتمع الدولي والمنظمات الدولية بسرعة التدخل وتوفير المبيدات والمواد اللازمة لمكافحة الحشرات والقوارض، مشيداً بدور مؤسسة "هدائي" وجهودها في دعم البلدية والتعاون معها لتنفيذ الحملة.
من جانبه أكّد عبد الله سكر أن هذه الحملة تأتي ثمرةً للتعاون مع بلدية غزة مشيراً إلى أن الاحتياجات الإنسانية والبيئية في المدينة كبيرة وتتطلب تضافر الجهود للتخفيف من حجم الكارثة مثمناً تعاون البلدية وتسهيلها لتنفيذ الحملة.
وفور انتهاء المؤتمر الصحفي بدأت الطواقم الميدانية بأعمال رش المبيدات في محيط بركة الشيخ رضوان والمناطق المجاورة ومراكز الإيواء في المنطقة.
وتناشد بلدية غزة المنظمات الدولية والجهات المعنية سرعة التدخل وتوفير المبيدات والمواد الخاصة بمكافحة القوارض والحشرات للحيلولة دون تفاقم المخاطر الصحية والبيئية في المدينة.

Gaza Municipality, in cooperation with the Turkish Hudayi Foundation, launched a symbolic campaign to combat mosquitoes and harmful insects in an effort to mitigate the health and environmental catastrophe facing the city as a result of unprecedented destruction, the accumulation of massive quantities of waste across various areas, and the flow of sewage into streets and rainwater collection basins.

The announcement came during a press conference held at Sheikh Radwan Basin with the participation of Gaza Mayor Dr. Yahya Al-Sarraj, Deputy Mayor Tamer Al-Rais, Municipal Council Member Dr. Ali Al-Habil, Director General of Health and Environment Eng. Mohammad Hamada, several municipal department directors, and Hudayi Foundation representative Abdullah Sukkar, in addition to a number of community leaders, dignitaries, representatives of Sheikh Radwan and Al-Manara neighborhood committees, and members of the foundation’s team.

The Mayor affirmed that the campaign carries a symbolic nature and aims to limit the spread of mosquitoes and harmful insects, noting that it will continue for one week and include the spraying of approximately 300 liters of pesticides. He explained that the actual needs are far greater and that the scale of the catastrophe facing the city requires urgent intervention to provide the necessary resources and supplies to prevent further deterioration of health and environmental conditions.

The Mayor called on the international community and international organizations to urgently intervene and provide pesticides and materials needed to combat insects and rodents, praising the role of the Hudayi Foundation and its efforts in supporting the municipality and cooperating in implementing the campaign.

For his part, Abdullah Sukkar affirmed that the campaign is the result of cooperation with Gaza Municipality, noting that the humanitarian and environmental needs in the city are immense and require collective efforts to mitigate the scale of the catastrophe. He also praised the municipality’s cooperation and facilitation in implementing the campaign.

Immediately following the press conference, field teams began pesticide spraying operations in the vicinity of Sheikh Radwan Basin, surrounding areas, and displacement shelters in the area.

Gaza Municipality appeals to international organizations and relevant bodies to urgently intervene and provide pesticides and materials for combating rodents and harmful insects in order to prevent further deterioration of the city’s health and environmental conditions.
