بلدية غزة: البدء في نقل النفايات من مكب سوق فراس المؤقت إلى أرض أبو جراد

بدأ صباح اليوم تنفيذ مشروع نقل النفايات من مكب سوق فراس المؤقت إلى أرض "أبو جراد" في منطقة توسعة النفوذ جنوب المدينة ضمن تعاون بين بلدية غزة وبرنامج الأمم المتحدة الإنمائيUNDP لإدارة أزمة النفايات الصلبة والتخفيف من الكارثة الصحية والبيئية التي تعيشها المدينة.
وأوضحت البلدية أن نقل النفايات من مكب فراس المؤقت إلى مكب أرض أبو جراد هي خطوة مؤقتة لإدارة الأزمة لحين تمكن طواقمها من الوصول للمكب الرئيس في منطقة جخر الديك شرق المدينة والمخصص لاستيعاب نفايات مدينة غزة و مناطق وبلديات أخرى مجاورة لمدينة غزة.
وبينت البلدية أن أرض سوق فراس التي تقع في قلب المدينة تبلغ مساحتها نحو 33 دونما واضطرت البلدية منذ بدء حرب الإبادة لتجميع النفايات بداخلها بسبب منع الاحتلال لطواقم البلدية من الوصول للمكب الرئيس شرق المدينة، موضحةً أنه سيتم نقل النفايات منها إلى أرض "أبو جراد" البالغ مساحتها نحو 106 دونمات وتم تهيئة 18 دونما منها مبدئيا لاستيعاب كمية النفايات التي ترد من مكب فراس المؤقت.
وأوضحت أن كمية النفايات المتكدسة في مكب فراس المؤقت بلغت نحو 350 ألف كوب وتتزايد يوميا مما يفاقم من الكارثة الصحية والبيئية وانتشار الحشرات والقوارض الضارة وانبعاث الروائح والأدخنة المضرة بالصحة والبيئة.
وتناشد بلدية غزة المؤسسات الدولية بضرورة الضغط على الاحتلال وتمكينها من الوصول للمكب الرئيس شرق المدينة وهو مكب مخصص ومجهز لتجميع النفايات.

Gaza Municipality: Commencement of Transferring Waste from the Temporary Firas Market Landfill to the Abu Jarad site
Gaza Municipality announced the start, this morning, of the implementation of a project to transfer solid waste from the temporary Firas Market landfill to the “Abu Jarad” site in the southern expansion area of the city. The project is being carried out in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) as part of efforts to manage the solid waste crisis and mitigate the severe health and environmental disaster affecting the city.
The municipality explained that transferring waste from the temporary Firas landfill is an interim measure to manage the crisis until municipal crews are granted access to the main landfill east of the city, which is designated to receive waste from Gaza City and neighboring municipalities.
It clarified that the Firas Market site, located in the heart of the city, covers an area of approximately 33 dunams. Since the outbreak of the war of genocide, the municipality has been forced to accumulate waste at this site due to the occupation’s prevention of municipal crews from accessing the main eastern landfill. The waste will now be transferred to the “Abu Jarad” site, which has a total area of approximately 106 dunams, with 18 dunams initially prepared to receive the waste transferred from the temporary Firas landfill.
The municipality further stated that the volume of waste accumulated at the temporary Firas landfill has reached approximately 350,000 cubic meters and continues to increase daily, exacerbating the health and environmental disaster through the spread of insects and harmful rodents, as well as the emission of odors and smoke that are hazardous to public health and the environment.
Gaza Municipality appealed to international institutions to exert pressure on the occupation and enable municipal crews to access the main landfill east of the city, which is a designated and properly equipped facility for waste disposal.
